After fifteen years in 24-hour hospitals, I wanted to do this differently.

In 2004 I opened Rathburn so we could take our time with every animal that walked in. Twenty-two years later, we're still on Renforth — still answering our own phone, still seeing your pet by name, still here when you need us on a Saturday.

I share a home with my husband, three sons, a daughter, my dog Ginger, and three cats — Lucas, Ginger, and Tai. In my spare time I garden, read, and listen to classical music. But my favourite hours of the week are the ones I spend with the patients who walk through that door.

If your pet has an emergency when we're closed, call Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital (905) 829-9444 — open 24/7. We coordinate with them for after-hours care and pick up follow-up at next open day.

Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. We take new dogs, cats, and small mammals. Same week appointments are typical. Call (416) 622-8818 or fill in the visit request form below and we'll get back to you within one business day.
How does pricing work?
We quote before procedures, not after. For routine visits — exams, vaccines, common diagnostics — we'll tell you the price when you call. For surgeries or complex care, we'll provide a written estimate range during the consultation. No surprise bills.
Do you accept pet insurance?
Yes. We work with all major Canadian pet insurance providers. You pay at the visit and submit your invoice for reimbursement, or we can help with direct-billing for accepted providers. Bring your policy details to your first visit.
What's your urgent-care turnaround?
For non-life-threatening urgent cases — limping, vomiting, eye irritation, suspected infections — we aim for same-day during our regular hours. Call as early in the day as possible. If we're full, we'll help you find another option, including the 24/7 ER in Mississauga.
Do you treat exotic pets?
We treat dogs, cats, and small mammals (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters). We do not treat birds, reptiles, or amphibians — for exotics we refer to specialty clinics and can recommend trusted ones in the GTA.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard, American Express. Payment is due at time of service. For larger procedures we can discuss payment options during the estimate stage.
